72-l flask with 4 necksThis is a typical 72-liter (19-gal.) flask used for the first-step reaction. The inclined measuring stick a meter stick (about a yard long) should give you a perspective of the size of the globe. The large 6.5-gallon plastic bottle (upper left) was used to charge the flask with the liquid ester mixture through a take-off near the bottom of the bottle.
