Protected on three sides by sheer cliffs and accessible only by this narrow bridge, you could sure find solitude here. This hermitage is a very popular spot for an outing. You only have to park your car in the area provided and walk about a mile to get to the hermitage. This area of the Duratón River has the most magnificent views, comparable to the Grand Canyon of the Colorado River. The man who was to become Saint Frutos came here in the 7th century with his brothers Valentín and Engracia. Impressed by the beauty of this region then known as the "Duratón Desert", they stayed to dedicate themselves to prayer. The actual hermitage building was erected in the 11th century.
