If you like, let's just walk past that statue of Velázquez in front of us in the above photo and take a peek inside the main entrance: (Museo Nacional del Prado. This is the most famous art museum in Madrid with collections of traditional art up to and through the 18th century.

The 19th-century collection is housed in the Casón del Buen Retiro. The Casón is also referred to as the Prado Annex.

Art beginning in the 20th-century can be found in the modern art museum, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sophía. Another good site where you can explore this modern art museum is the Spanish Arts page.
